Acadiana workers, residents adjust as heat index soars to 110

LAFAYETTE, La. (NEWS 15) — Acadiana remained under a heat advisory for the sixth consecutive day on Wednesday, as the heat index reached 110 degrees. The region has also recorded eight straight days of temperatures at or above 96 degrees.

The heat is creating dangerous working conditions for people who work outdoors, including repair crews in Opelousas and construction crews in Lafayette.
