Lafayette Christian, Northwest boys and girls shine at state track meet

Lafayette Christian and Northwest High’s track and field programs didn’t come home with the big trophies, but they didn’t leave empty handed from the state track and field meet at the Bernie Moore Track Stadium at LSU.

In Class 3A, the Northwest boys finished as the state runner-up, while the Knights’ girls and boys teams were also state runners-up in Class 2A.

“I was very pleased with us finishing as the state runner-up,” Raiders head coach Leon Citizen said. “I’m pleased because of the simple fact that at the end of the day, it’s not all about winning. It’s all about running personal bests. So, majority of our kids ran the best that they’ve run all season long, so it’s not much more that I could have asked for. They gave it all on the track.”…
