Addis man arrested on I-10 in Lafayette Parish with nearly 9 pounds of drugs

LAFAYETTE PARISH, La. (NEWS 15) — An Addis man is facing multiple drug charges after a traffic stop on I-10 in Lafayette Parish led to the discovery of nearly 9 pounds of illegal narcotics.

David Butler, 31, of Addis, is charged with possession with intent to distribute Schedule II controlled substances for crystal methamphetamine, methamphetamine tablets, and Tapentadol; possession of Schedule IV for Xanax; possession of Schedule I for marijuana; and possession of a legend drug without a prescription for Promethazine.

Deputies explained during the traffic stop they detected the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle Butler was driving, which led to a probable cause search…
