(NEWS 15) — Residents and officials across Acadiana are preparing for potential severe weather and flooding as forecasts call for high rain totals in the coming days.
Workers in St. Landry Parish and Breaux Bridge distributed sandbags to residents ahead of the anticipated rainfall. Many residents collected the sandbags to protect their homes from potential flooding.
“Well, I just prepare myself. Sometimes, the water gets a little close to the house, but you never know. Be prepared just in case, and sometimes I use the sandbags and sometimes I don’t,” Dwayne Toucheck of Breaux Bridge said. “It’s kind of like, you never know what with Mother Nature today, so I’m just getting prepared.”…
