A 19-year-old is facing enhanced criminal charges and an immigration hold after running from the scene of a single-vehicle wreck in Wahneta Saturday night.
Polk County Sheriff’s Office deputies were called out to a crash involving a GMC Envoy on Bomber Road just around 10:30 p.m. on June 13, 2026. When the first deputy arrived, a witness who saw the accident happen told law enforcement that the driver was trying to get away on foot.
Because the suspect had not made it very far, the witness was able to spot him nearby and point him out to the deputy. The suspect, identified as Yahir Santiago Santiago of Mexico, looked back, saw the witness pointing at him, and immediately started running.
