A lane closure on the northbound side of Lakeland Highlands Road is causing heavier than usual traffic backups as crews repair a suspected leak in a massive concrete pipe buried more than 15 feet underground.
A statement on the city’s road projects webpage urges commuters to consider alternate routes. Repairs are expected to take up to three weeks to complete, ”weather and site conditions permitting,” stated the release.
On Wednesday morning, dozens of orange cones reduced northbound traffic to one lane near the intersection of Sanlan Ranch Drive, one block from the soon-to-open Orlando Health Watson Clinic Lakeland Highlands Hospital.
Temporary lane closures are required “to safely access, evaluate, and repair the pipe,” stated a City of Lakeland press release. “Motorists are encouraged to use caution when traveling through the area and should expect occasional traffic impacts.”…
