A midday crash on Interstate 75 sent a driver to the hospital and left a massive mess of sand blocking southbound lanes on Monday. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the incident occurred at approximately 12:15 p.m. just north of Bruce B Downs Boulevard.
State troopers reported that a 33-year-old Tampa man was driving a dump truck southbound when he lost control of the vehicle. The truck veered off the road and flipped over.
As the vehicle overturned, its entire cargo of sand spilled out across the highway, creating an obstruction that blocked portions of the interstate.
