FORT MEADE, Fla. (WFLA) — After Fort Meade officials unanimously approved plans for a massive “hyperscale” AI data center, the state reminded the city that it has major hurdles to clear before the controversial “Project Stonebridge” can proceed.
In a letter to Mayor Jaret Williams on Wednesday, Florida Department of Commerce Secretary J. Alex Kelly laid out his concerns surrounding the proposed 4.4 million square foot facility along US-98, which would be among the first of its kind in Florida.

“It is readily clear that the project – if ultimately permitted and constructed – presents significant risks to Central Florida’s energy capacity, water resources, and transportation infrastructure,” Kelly wrote in the letter, which was dated April 15…
