Detainees will move out of ‘Alligator Alcatraz,’ facility to shut down by June, source says

Officials will aim to move detainees out of the immigration detention center “Alligator Alcatraz” by June, a source told NBC6, as discussions have arisen about shutting down the state-run facility.

A vendor who works at the center confirmed to NBC6 that they were told the facility will effort to move detainees out of the so-called “Alligator Alcatraz” by June 1. The New York Times first reported this on Tuesday afternoon.

Gov. Ron DeSantis said the center has processed and deported 22,000 detainees since it opened last summer…
