Lancaster woman sentenced for smothering infant son after using cocaine: DA

A 34-year-old Lancaster woman will spend up to nine years in state prison for smothering her 3-month-old son to death after she fell asleep while smoking crack cocaine, according to the Lancaster County District Attorney’s office.

Court documents said the baby was pronounced dead on Aug. 30, 2024 in his family’s home in the 500 block of Lime Street in Lancaster. His death was later ruled an accident from asphyxia due to co-sleeping.

Luz L. Saez, of Lancaster, was found guilty of endangering the welfare of children and involuntary manslaughter after a one-day trial in July. She was sentenced to 3.5 to nine years in prison on Aug. 13…
