Police charge man with stealing from fire-damaged Ephrata home, meth possession

LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. (WHP) — A Reading man is facing charges after the police said he was robbing a home early Wednesday that had been damaged in an August fire, according to a news release.

Shawn Mead, 30, has been charged with:

  • Burglary
  • Criminal conspiracy to commit burglary
  • Possession of a controlled substance – methamphetamine

Around 7:29 a.m., the Ephrata Police Department was called to the 500 block of South Windy Mansion Road in West Cocalico Township for a reported burglary in progress. The owner of the home had called the police after seeing someone on their property.

At the scene, the police said they found Amanda Shuman sitting in the passenger side of a vehicle parked in the driveway of the home. She told officers she was at the home with Mead, who was inside the fire-damaged home…
