Police file charges in $20,000 fraud investigation in Lancaster County

LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. — The West Lampeter Township Police Department has filed charges against a Georgia man, James Copeny Jr., in connection to a fraud case, according to a press release from the department.

Copeny allegedly pretended to be a law enforcement official in a phone call to the victim on March 13. He allegedly told the victim that there is a warrant for her arrest, and that she needed to pay the funds to lift the warrant.
