Ingham County officials push back on Burchfield Park transmission lines

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — A proposed transmission line project would cut through an Ingham County park, and now, people are taking sides on whether or not it should be built there.

The project would be run by ITC, a Michigan company that develops power grids, and run the lines from near Fowlerville, past Lansing, and connect to a high voltage electrical facility south of Grand Ledge.

Developers say the project would lower costs and supply energy to a growing region, but others are worried it might be an eyesore for a local park.

The proposed line would be 50 miles long, and right now, there are 7 possible routes all beginning at the Sabine Lake substation and ending at the Oneida substation.
