Months-long probe leads to arrest in Owosso teen’s death

OWOSSO, Mich. (WJRT) – The Owosso Police Department has arrested a 25-year-old man in connection with the death of a 19-year-old Owosso resident following a months-long investigation.

Cherokee Shrum of Owosso was arrested and arraigned in the 66th District Court Tuesday on charges of Delivery of a Controlled Substance Causing Death and Possession of Methamphetamine/Ecstasy.

On January 31 at approximately 1 a.m., officers responded to the 1400 block of Mansfield Drive to assist the Owosso Fire Department on a report of a person not breathing. Officers immediately began CPR until firefighters and paramedics arrived and continued advanced life support efforts, but the victim was pronounced deceased…
