Lansing Opens Cooling Centers As Dangerous Heat Moves In

With the heat index pushing past 100, Lansing is opening up places for people to cool down as extreme heat settles into Mid-Michigan.

The City of Lansing activated a Code Red extreme heat weather plan with most of the area under an Extreme Heat Warning. The plan is in effect Monday, June 29th through Thursday, July 2, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. each day.

That means several cooling centers are available for anyone who needs a break from the heat, especially during the hottest part of the day…
