EAST LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — Amid the concerns about the use of Flock cameras and other automatic license plate readers in public spaces, the East Lansing Police Department is defending its use of a Flock-operated trailer that it move around town.
The department says these tools are purely reactions to public safety, and locals should not worry about their information being shared elsewhere.
ELPD Cpt. Adrian Ojerio told 6 News that while there are Flock cameras all over Michigan State University’s campus, there’s only one Flock trailer in the city of East Lansing that moves around with safety concerns.

“What that does is it allows us to create a much larger safety net, so that we can search for problems or be alerted to issues, our concerns. Some of those issues or concerns would be like stolen vehicles or missing children or things of that nature. So it does enhance public safety,” Ojerio said…
