MSU expands tuition advantage program for Michigan students

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS)— Michigan State University is expanding its Spartan Tuition Advantage program, which covers full tuition costs for Pell Grant–eligible Michigan students with a family income of $75,000 or less.

The financial aid initiative covers up to 18 credits of tuition per semester for up to eight consecutive semesters. To receive the benefit, students must apply to MSU, gain admission and submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid.

MSU reports that 4,000 students currently receive assistance through the program, which has operated for three years. MSU President Kevin M. Guskiewicz discussed the university’s effort to expand access to higher education.
