Michigan infrastructure inadequate to stop flooding, experts say

EAST LANSING, Mich. (News 10) – Michigan’s infrastructure is not adequate to stop flooding being seen across the state, according to Steve Roznowski, President and CEO of Spicer Group, a civil engineering, surveying, and community planning firm.

Spring flooding caused damage

Mid Michigan saw storms bring flooding and damage over the spring.

Community planning firms say more funding is needed to combat flooding and an increase in rainfall.

“It really comes down to funding. Somebody’s got to step up and pay for it. Unfortunately, some of that falls back on the residents,” Roznowski said.

Funding and local infrastructure

Experts say communities can invest in local infrastructure with more funding. Until then, adjusting building ordinances or drain codes is another option to mitigate damage…
