Two months after last hike, DTE files request to increase power rates $474M

LANSING, MI – Michigan’s largest electric utility has again kicked off the process of raising power rates, just under two months after its residential customers saw a 4.6% rate increase on their bills.

DTE Energy filed hundreds of pages of paperwork with state regulators in Lansing Tuesday, April 28, seeking a $474.3 million rate hike.

If approved in full — an unlikely proposition based on recent rate increases — residential customers with typical usage would see a nearly 9.7% jump on their bills, or $11.06 more each month…
