The Country Kitchen Restaurant, Mason: 1950s-1970s

Even though it closed in the early 1970s, I remember the Country Kitchen, located in Mason at 3700 Harper Road.

The Country Kitchen was operated by Mary Lennon and Mable Tuttle who cooked all the delicious dishes. Their personal slogan was “your home is our only competitor”.

They served special old-fashioned dinners on Christmas Day and their regular menu included four salads, relish tray, fried chicken (and one other meat), giblets, mashed potatoes, dressing, baked beans, noodles, dumplings, biscuits, dessert and a drink…..and the adult cost was two bucks, seventy-five cents for kids!
