Ahead of July 4, Southwest Gas urges customers across service areas to practice gas safety

LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — With July 4 a day away and summer gatherings ramping up, Southwest Gas is urging customers across its service territories to put safety first as grilling, outdoor fire pits and fireworks become more common and seasonal energy use increases.

Natural gas is a key part of many summer activities, from backyard barbecues to outdoor entertaining. Southwest Gas said customers can help keep family, friends and communities safe by taking basic precautions with outdoor natural gas appliances.

The company recommends customers inspect grills and fire pits before use, checking connections, valves and hoses for cracks, holes or leaks. Outdoor appliances should be used outdoors only; grills should never be used indoors, in garages or near enclosed spaces.
