LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — A homeschool cooperative on the Las Vegas east side has grown to more than 300 families, five years after its founder posted on Facebook looking for other parents to meet at a park.
Amanda Dillion founded Sunrise Mountain Homeschool Co-Op after searching social media for other families with children to socialize with.
“We were just looking for friends for our kids,” Dillion said. “And so we went on Facebook and we found another retired school teacher who wanted to meet up with her for her grandkids. And so we decided to meet at a park and once we met up we’re like this is so cool like maybe we can make it a regular thing.”
From one post to hundreds of families
