CCSD celebrates 99% staffing rate as Las Vegas students return to class

LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — The Clark County School District welcomed approximately 280,000 students back to classrooms Monday for the start of the 2026-2027 academic year, boasting a historic 99% staffing fill rate despite dealing with extreme summer heat and minor first-day transit adjustments.

CCSD Superintendent Jhone Ebert expressed strong optimism during an afternoon press conference at Brinley Middle School, highlighting the district’s success in retaining and recruiting educators.

“To retain staff and have someone consistently with our children—they know their families, they get to do all of those wonderful things,” Ebert said.
