More storms coming to Las Vegas Friday afternoon

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — There will be better chances for measurable rain in the Las Vegas valley later in the day on Friday.

In all the storms that rolled through Las Vegas on Thursday, the official rainfall for the city was 0.02″. There was a lot more than that in several neighborhoods:

  • Jean: 1.54″
  • Anthem: 0.90″
  • Sloan: 0.51″
  • Inspirada: 0.47″
  • Boulder City: 0.39″
  • NW Summerlin: 0.31″
  • Providence: 0.10″

There’s still a lot of moisture in the atmosphere over southern Nevada, so expect another day of afternoon and evening storms that will be capable of dropping upwards of half an inch of rain or more. These same storms will include areas of brief heavy downpours, wind gusts up to 60mph, lightning and even hail.

Following Thursday’s high temp of 90, we won’t climb a whole lot higher than that today as spotty sunshine gives way to the next round of storm clouds…
