LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — The Hawk Fire near Reno has burned more than 15,000 acres and is now 93% contained, according to Regional Emergency Operations. The blaze destroyed dozens of homes and forced tens of thousands of people under evacuation orders.
Saturday was supposed to be the start of a new chapter for Leah Gruber and her fiancé. Gruber lived in Las Vegas for about a decade and was moving to Reno with her fiancé for his work.
On move-in day, they were greeted by the raging wildfire.

“The movers leave. And so, we’re just checking the house out,” Gruber recalled. “I look out the window, and I’m like ‘Oh my god!’ There’s a plume of smoke, and there’s fire all out the mountain. I’m like- that can’t be good.”…
