Las Vegas residents 50 and older with a song, a dance routine or a punchline to share now have their shot at the spotlight. The City of Las Vegas has announced a casting call for the 19th annual Las Vegas Senior Idol Showcase, inviting local seniors to audition for a spot in the January stage production at the Charleston Heights Arts Center.
Auditions will take place October 20-22 from noon to 5 p.m. at the East Las Vegas Community Center, located at 250 N. Eastern Ave., according to FOX5 Vegas. The showcase accepts both solo and group acts spanning vocals, dance, comedy and musical instruments, and each performance cannot run longer than four minutes, including setup and exit. That community center venue was refurbished to include public art celebrating local Latino heritage, a dance studio and a sound production booth, according to the Rutherford Post.
Paperwork Deadline Looms Ahead of Auditions
Each act must submit completed registration forms and a photo of their performance before auditions even begin. Audition registration packets are available at the East Las Vegas Community Center or can be requested by email at [email protected], per the station’s report. Completed packets must be delivered or mailed to program coordinator Rosie Noma’aea at the Howard Lieburn Active Adult Center, 6230 Garwood Ave., by 5 p.m. on September 25.
The photo requirement comes with specific instructions: applicants must submit an 8.5-by-11-inch photo of their act placed in a clear, three-hole-punched sheet protector. Once submitted, those photos permanently become the property of the City of Las Vegas Department of Parks and Recreation, which retains the images for event archiving and promotional use.
A Stage Built for a Growing Senior Population
Those who make the cut will perform at the Charleston Heights Arts Center from January 4-8, 2027, between 3 and 5 p.m. The venue houses the 365-seat Jeanne Roberts Theatre alongside an art gallery and a digital multimedia lab, according to the Rutherford Post.
