ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — A new DeKalb County School District policy primarily aimed at protecting students from ICE agents was approved by the school board on Monday.
The policy says law enforcement officers and other government agents can’t question a student, remove a student or access non-public areas of school property without proper legal authority.
“The DeKalb County School District is committed to maintaining a safe, orderly, and supportive learning environment for all students,” it states. “This commitment is taken to ensure that all students can learn free from fear and is given regardless of immigration status, national origin, or the status of the student’s parents or caregivers.”…
