Crews Middle School lead counselor Shayla Thompson is one of the five best school counselors in the nation, according to the American School Counselor Association, and she could end up being named the best in the nation early next year.
Thompson was recently named one of five finalists for ASCA’s 2027 School Counselor of the Year award. The honor recognizes counselors who go above and beyond to serve as advocates for students and help them be successful in the classroom and through the rest of their lives.
