LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) – For former University of Kentucky track athlete and Venezuelan Olympian Jose Acevedo, the destruction in his homeland is deeply personal.
Acevedo moved to the United States at 19 years old to pursue an athletic scholarship. But much of his family still lives in Caracas, Venezuela, including his aunt, who remains missing after a building collapsed.
“They have not been able to get to those remote places — sadly. My aunt is in that situation. A lot of family members there confirmed that the building completely collapsed. And like I said — that’s one out of hundreds,” Acevedo said…
