Lexington officers rescue dog trapped in concrete pipe
Officials saved the life of a dog buried inside a concrete pipe, as per Lexington-Fayette Animal Care & Control and a video by WKYT. Multiple agencies banded together to work tirelessly for five hours to rescue a Dachshund called Veeta on Saturday. The adventurous dog found itself caught in an underground pipe near Featherson Drive in Lexington. As per the Facebook post, Veeta discovered a hidden hole in her yard and went headfirst into a much larger underground cavity. The post explained: “Years of erosion, natural limestone, and the root system of a nearby silver maple tree had created a maze-like cave beneath the yard, leaving Veeta about four feet underground and nearly ten feet from where she entered.”
The poor creature found itself about four feet underground and nearly ten feet from where it entered. Upon realizing that Veeta was missing, neighbors raised an alarm, and soon multiple forces joined the rescue mission.
Residents immediately contacted Lexington-Fayette Animal Care and Control, who dug for nearly an hour. However, they realized that this mission would require steadfast determination and a multiparty effort. The Lexington Fire Department was called upon to complete Veeta’s rescue mission…
