LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) — Students in Fayette County are only days away from the first day of the new school year, and several organizations have been making sure students are fully prepared.
Whitney Young Park was filled with energy Sunday for the fifth annual CJ’s Backpack and Supplies Giveaway. From music to food to games and school supplies, it’s a way to give back to the community.
“We have 300 backpacks filled up with everything they would need. The backpacks are from preschool, all the way to 12th grade, and we filled up 300. We have door prizes, gift cards; there’s a lot going on here,” event organizer Renita Wright said.
