America’s newest scenic byway
Old Frankfort Pike covers just 15.5 miles between Lexington and Frankfort, but it packs more history per mile than roads 10 times its length.
This two-lane stretch through central Kentucky’s Bluegrass Region earned National Scenic Byway status in 2021, the first road in the Bluegrass to get the honor. Six National Register historic districts line the route.
So do thousands of barns, stables, and homes spread across more than 20,000 acres. This is not a road you rush.
