LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) — A Lexington running club is renewing its call for safer streets after a pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run, saying the crash highlights dangers runners and pedestrians face on Lexington roads.
For the Front Runners Running Club, the issue is personal. The group lost one of its members in a pedestrian-vehicle crash several years ago.
Since then, members have pushed for safety measures both within the club and throughout the community, according to board chair Jason Schubert.

“It took us a while to really figure out what we wanted to do,” Schubert said. “So we really promoted within our club a lot of safety measures but then also started getting more involved with different things like the Red Light Runners campaign, being on the Street Safety Task Force, and just being an active participant in the community related to street safety.”…
