‘Sleepmaxxing’ trend could actually make it harder to sleep, expert says

(NewsNation) — Getting a good night’s sleep has always been recommended, but maximizing sleep quality has become the latest wellness trend taking over social media.

Known as “sleepmaxxing,” the trend encourages people to optimize their sleep through healthy daytime habits, nighttime routines, and sleep tracking.

However, experts warn that some approaches can become counterproductive and may actually make sleep more difficult.

“[Sleepmaxxing is] really becoming almost hyper-fixated on sleep hygiene, tracking your sleep, the daytime practices that might influence your sleep so that you really can try and get as much sleep as possible,” clinical psychologist and sleep expert Shelby Harris said on NewsNation’s “Morning in America.”…
