LEXINGTON, Ky. ( FOX 56 ) — A Lexington organization wants to know what people think about a major crime bill being considered by Kentucky lawmakers. People have until 11:45 p.m. Monday to make their voices heard. The survey focuses on the street camping ban proposed by House Bill 5. Catholic Action Center leaders want lawmakers to consider different solutions to homelessness and possibly avoid unintended consequences for a community that’s already struggling.
“Nobody wants to be homeless. Nobody chooses to be homeless. It’s just, it happens and it’s a sad situation,” Janey Edmonson, a temporarily unhoused person, told FOX 56.

There are fewer things in the world that Edmonson wants more than a place to call home.
“I don’t care if it’s a closet with a bathroom, as long as it’s mine. And, you know, I know I’m safe,” she said.
On Wednesday, Edmonson will be going to Frankfort and joining several with the Catholic Action Center, who are hoping to paint some perspective about life without a home.
