LOUISVILLE, Ky. — All the Kentucky Derby prep races are complete, and the field is coming into focus, with three main horses expected to be the favorites.
RENEGADE had an impressive finishing stretch to win the Arkansas Derby. The colt is trained by two-time Derby winner Todd Pletcher and co-owned by Mike Repole, who has spent millions to try and win the Derby but experienced heartbreak multiple times, including the scratches of contenders Uncle Mo, Forte and Grande before the race was even run.
Renegade has raced five times at five different tracks and never finished out of the money, but this will be his first race at Churchill Downs. His closing style might set up well on Derby Day…
