Fayette County teacher accused in deadly hit and run appears in court

LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) — The Glendover Elementary School teacher accused of hitting and killing a pedestrian while allegedly drunk appeared in court for a status hearing on Friday.

The crash happened near the intersection of Georgetown and Mercer Roads. According to Lexington police, Jaime Caldwell was behind the wheel when she hit 32-year-old Joshua Hampton just before 7 a.m. on April 16, 2025.

She was arrested at Glendover Elementary School, where the LPD said she worked as a teacher. According to court documents, Caldwell’s blood alcohol content (BAC) was 0.278, over three times the legal limit.
