Parents of suspected correspondents’ dinner shooter ‘very solid,’ neighbor says

(KTLA) — A neighbor near the Southern California home where the suspected White House Correspondents’ Dinner shooter was believed to be staying described the suspect’s parents as “very solid.”

Cole Tomas Allen of Torrance was identified as the suspect shortly after the incident at the black-tie gala at the Washington Hilton in Washington, D.C., on Saturday night.

Acting U.S. Attorney General Todd Blanche said Allen traveled from California to Chicago and then to the nation’s capital by train and checked in as a guest at the hotel. Federal officials further said that he was armed with multiple guns and a knife as he rushed towards the ballroom where the glitzy event was being held.

Secret Service agents quickly swarmed him—one was said to have been shot during the ordeal but was protected by a bulletproof vest—and took him into custody.
