In-person worship climbs for first time in a generation

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) – Church pews are filling up again across America for the first time in 25 years.

A study released last month by the Hartford Institute for Religion Research shows that in-person attendance has climbed back to 70 worshippers per congregation, up from a COVID low. However, attendance is still short of the 137 seen pre-pandemic.

Searching for community

Father Jim Sichko, an evangelist for the Catholic Diocese of Lexington, said he’s seen the increase in churchgoers himself as he travels around the world preaching.
