LIVE: Improperly discarded cigarette caused north Lincoln hotel fire, officials say

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – Lincoln Fire and Rescue determined an improperly discarded cigarette caused the fire that destroyed a north Lincoln hotel Monday morning.

Firefighters responded to the report of a fire and explosion at the Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott near Superior Street and Industrial Avenue around 6:50 p.m. A passerby called it in after noticing a small fire.
