Lincoln Children’s Museum takes advantage of Project “O” Street with kids construction day

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – While commuters and some downtown businesses are feeling the pinch of Project “O” Street, the Lincoln Children’s Museum took advantage of the construction in a unique twist.

Wednesday morning, about a dozen “campers” from the museum’s stem-based summer camp program got to head over to 14th and P streets; getting an up close look at the city’s work.

After donning hard hats and bright vests, kids from the 1st to 3rd grade got to mix their own concrete samples, interact with engineers and project professionals, and get first hand demonstrations. Even getting behind the wheel and driving an excavator.

8-year-old Mary Ninneman said her favorite part of the day was, “Building the stuff….and yeah!” while 6-year-old Ronan Neukirch added, “I liked making cement.”…
