Lincoln launches public fundraising campaign for new Central Library

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – Lincoln leaders officially launched a community fundraising campaign Wednesday morning to support the planned new Central Public Library downtown.

The fundraising effort supports the city’s plan to transform the former Southeast Community College Education Square building at 1111 O St. into a new library designed to serve as a modern community hub.

“Just over a year ago, Lincolnites of all ages packed into the children’s section of Bennett Martin Library to witness the unveiling of a vision for a new, modern central public library,” Mayor Leirion Gaylor Baird said. “This morning, we are here to share how much closer we are to realizing that vision and to invite the community to be a part of this transformational civic investment.”…
