Electrical, water issues hinder high school rodeo finals in Lincoln for some visitors

Several attendees of the National High School Finals Rodeo that just wrapped up in Lincoln weren’t impressed with their experience. Social media complaints ranged from frustration about water issues to electrical outages at the Sandhills Global Event Center.

The rodeo wrapped up on Saturday with campers blasting their air conditioners through the 100 degree heat. Ron Bohaty, the managing director of the Sandhills Global Event Center, said the facility’s older campground area was upgraded with new breakers and panels about a year ago.

“Unfortunately, I don’t believe all the work was completed the way it needed to be,” Bohaty said. “The primary reason for that outage was that the main breakers are programmable. They actually have a little digital screen on them. And they came from the factory at 400 amps, and they needed to be changed to 1,200 amps.”…
