LINCOLN, Neb. — Recent rainfall has improved drought conditions in parts of southeast Nebraska, including Lincoln, but much of the rest of the state continues to struggle, according to the latest Drought Monitor map.
A small section of southeast Nebraska running through Lincoln now shows no dryness on the updated map. Central and northeast Nebraska, however, are seeing abnormally dry conditions, and the Panhandle is in dire need of soaking rain.
“It looks like a desert out there right now. And even though they may show extreme drought, some of what they’re experiencing probably is the worst conditions they’ve experienced in decades, maybe going back to the Dust Bowl era,” said Eric Hunt, agricultural meteorologist with University of Nebraska-Lincoln Extension…
