April 15 marked one year of the Nuisance Vehicle Ordinance in Lincoln. In that time, LPD deemed 128 vehicles disorderly and impounded them. 60 percent of those occurred on ‘O’ Street. “We saw the highest number of offenses in May and June,” says LPD Public Information Manager Erika Thomas.
57 percent of those occurred between 9 p.m. and 1 a.m. with weekends being the busiest. “As a reminder, this law allows LPD to impound vehicles involved in street racing and reckless driving,” Thomas says. “Vehicles will be towed, but can be immediately released after the first violation, along with receiving a written notice.”…
