Nebraska Task Force Members Contacted Tornado Response Drill on Thursday

LINCOLN–(KFOR Apr. 30)–Lincoln has certainly faces tornado threats over the years, even had a few touchdown in the city limits, but none of them have been strong or gone long enough to leave a carved-out path of destruction.

To prepare for that scenario, a large-scale training exercise happened Thursday at Lincoln Fire and Rescue’s training facility near 3rd and South streets that included Nebraska’s Urban Search and Rescue team Task Force One. The “Capital Cyclone” response included crew members breaking through concrete, sawing wood, shoring up walls to keep them stable, as if they were doing a rescue operation after a simulated EF4 tornado slammed into west-central Lincoln and hit the downtown area.
