LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – Cold front moving through the area today will bring slightly cooler temperatures, breezy conditions and a small rain chance. Above average temperatures will remain in place through the weekend. Better rain chances arrive this weekend.
Red Flag Warning is in effect from Noon to 9 pm today for part of Northeastern and Central Nebraska as well as North Central Kansas. The combination of warm temperatures, breezy conditions and low relative humidity will lead to critical fire weather conditions.
Breezy and a little cooler today
Winds will shift from south and southwest at 10 to 20 mph to north and northwest at 15 to 25 mph with gusts to 35 mph by late morning and into the afternoon.
The morning looks to be partly to mostly cloudy with a 20% chance of isolated showers and sprinkles. Clouds will decrease for the afternoon so that it becomes mostly sunny. High temperatures will reach the upper 70s to mid 80s.
Not as breezy, but still warm Wednesday
Wednesday brings a break from the wind with southeast winds at 5 to 15 mph. It will be mainly sunny and warm with high temperatures in the low 80s to low 90s. Clouds are going to increase Wednesday night.
Windy Thursday, Hot Friday
Thursday will be partly to mostly cloudy with a 20% chance of isolated showers and thunderstorms. It will also be warm and windy. Highs should range from the low 80s to low 90s with south winds at 20 to 30 mph and gusts to 45 mph.
Friday is going to be hot with near-record high temperatures in some locations including Lincoln. Cooling trend begins Saturday and continues into early next week…
