Arkansas officials warn of dangerous counterfeit pills after overdose death

Officials with the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory are warning Arkansans about a dangerous synthetic opioid after investigators identified cychlorphine in a counterfeit pill disguised as oxycodone.

Crime Lab Director Theodore Brown said the discovery came during an investigation involving a young man who was found dead in his bedroom after unknowingly taking the substance.

“He got this drug when he thought he was taking a different drug,” Brown said. “That’s what’s so alarming about counterfeit, or fake pills.”…
