LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – A recent study by U.S. News & World Report identified the most popular dog names in the nation, including Arkansas-based canine names.
First things first: The most popular dog names nationally are Bella, in first, Luna in second and Max in third. This only loosely aligns with Arkansas naming conventions, where Lucy is first, followed by Bella, then Sadie.

To further demonstrate the dog-naming conventions of Arkansas, Lucy is the eighth most popular in the nation and Sadie is 17th in the nation.
But the Bella doesn’t stop there. In the surrounding states of Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Tennessee, Bella is the most popular name, aligning with the national trend. Missouri, however, bucks the trend with Lucy being the most popular name, and our neighbor to the west, Oklahoma, has Buddy as its number-one name, according to the study…
