Some Arkansans may be in need of community cooling centers this week as the heat index is forecast to eclipse 100 degrees across large swaths of the state.
Parts of eastern, central and western Arkansas are under extreme heat warnings until Tuesday evening, while the rest of the state is under a heat advisory. The National Weather Service’s office in North Little Rock has warned that overnight temperatures may not dip below 80 degrees in many places.
